The education for Intensive Care nurse at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) will start using EPASS from September 2014, which is the first nursing master education that will use EPASS. The development of the portfolio has already been completed and is entirely customized based on the educational plan.
In September 2014, the Leiden University Medical Center, Erasmus Medical Center and Delft University will start a new education ‘Clinical Technology’. This new education is on the boundary of medicine and technology. EPASS will be used as a digital portfolio to support the education. The implementation will take place in July and August, after which the first students will start using EPASS in September 2014.
Research of the use of EPASS during the day has shown that the use is relatively high during the current scheduled maintenance time (after 17:00h). For this reason, it is decided to change the maintenance period to early mornings (between 06:00 and maximum 09:00h). With this decision, it is endeavored to minimize the amount of inconvenience to all EPASS users.
From May 1st, a change has occured in the EPASS team. Erik Driessen - former project manager EPASS at Maastricht University - has been appointed as chairman. His job as a project manager EPASS is acquired by collegae Joyce Moonen-van Loon. Also in his new position, Erik will continue his tasks for EPASS. On behalf of the EPASS team, we would like to congratulate both colleagues with their new positions!
EPASS is discussed on the MedEdWorld website! MedEdWorld is an international health professions community of individuals and educational organisations whose purpose is the sharing of information, ideas, experience and expertise. MedEdWorld was launched by the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) in 2009. Several papers about portfolios are found in the menu ‘Publications’ on the website of MedEdWorld. The description of EPASS can be read via http://www.mededworld.org/Learning-Technology/Equipment-Items/EPASS.aspx
